Our step-by-step guide from the experts.

Wondering how to wrap a bottle? We've got it all tied up, with our expert guide below.

Wrapping gifts can be a fun, festive activity to really get you in the mood for Christmas. Settling down with a Yuletide cocktail and some Micheal Buble classics can make wrapping presents a whole activity in itself.

However, while a neat, square box can be smoothly packaged and easily tied up in a bow, not every parcel is quite so simple. What begins as a potentially delightful festive activity can quickly turn into a headache.

A bottle of wine is one such present, and for this reason it is often demoted to being slotted into a standard gift bag to save the hassle of wrapping it.

While there are some delightful bottle bags available (we've included some of our favourites at the end of this guide), wrapping bottles yourself can be just as simple and even more aesthetic, once you know how to do it properly.

In our guide on how to wrap a bottle, we've enlisted the help of gift wrapping experts Wrapsody. Here, they explain exactly how to wrap a wine bottle just like a professional and make it look beautifully festive.

You can follow the tutorial along here or watch the full step-by-step video at the top of the article.

What you need:

Attach a piece of double-sided sticky tape to each edge of the tissue paper. Then place the cellophane on top so the two layers become attached.

Flip the wrapping over so the tissue paper side is on top with the cellophane underneath. Place the bottle onto the centre and fold one edge up to the top of the bottle neck.

Create a pleat in the paper (a vertical fold) and gather the paper up bit by bit, pleating as you go. Continue all the way around the bottle until all the tissue paper is used.

Holding the wrapping together at the neck, tie a piece of ribbon around to secure it in place. Then, add your choice of decoration to finish. Here, Wrapsody use a pine cone and dried orange slices but berries, bows and sprigs of herbs would also look festive and fabulous.

Now you know how to wrap a wine bottle like a pro. In case you're still not convinced, here are some of our favourite bottle bags to choose from, including personalised and reusable options...
